In 2016 Davidson United Methodist Church (now Davidson Methodist Church) member Nina Thompson walked into the Southwestern Pennsylvania Office of Domestic Violence  with the support of her family. She wanted to offer the children at the Domestic Violence Shelter some semblance of normalcy. She wanted to do this by providing them with bags that contained pillow cases, toiletries, coloring books, and toys.

She was 12 years old when she began her mission and with in a year, with the help of her grandparents she created 81 bags. In two and a half years the number of bags rose to 410. Now in 2024 Nina is in nursing school and her mission, along with the help of others, continues to thrive.
